Raipur/Jashpur, November 4, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening road safety awareness, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated a Helmet Bank established by Jashpur Police at the Police Line in Jashpur on Thursday. Designed as a people-centric initiative, the Helmet Bank will provide temporary access to helmets for two-wheeler riders who are unable to arrange one immediately, ensuring safer travel on roads.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that road safety is not merely about adhering to traffic regulations but about protecting lives and families. He urged citizens to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers and use seat belts in four-wheelers, stating that simple precautions can prevent tragedies and save countless lives.

Highlighting the dangers of head injuries in road accidents, Sai noted that the consistent use of helmets significantly reduces the risk of fatalities and serious injuries. He said every journey should begin with a commitment to safety, adding that responsible road behavior is a civic duty as much as a legal requirement.

The Helmet Bank has been stocked with 1,000 helmets and is designed to support riders who may need immediate access to protective gear. Citizens who borrow a helmet will be required to return it after completing their essential work and contribute to a small road safety awareness activity, encouraging community participation in traffic safety efforts.

Officials said the initiative is part of a broader campaign by Jashpur Police to promote helmet usage across the district. Special enforcement drives are also underway against riders traveling without helmets. As part of the campaign, vehicles seized for helmet violations can be released without a penalty once the rider purchases a new helmet and presents the receipt, shifting the focus from punishment to behavioral change.

With the slogan “Helmet on Every Head, Safe You, Safe Family,” Jashpur Police aims to ensure that every two-wheeler rider in the district adopts helmet use as a regular habit. Authorities hope the initiative will contribute to reducing accident-related deaths while fostering a culture of responsible and safe transportation.

Several public representatives, administrative officers, police officials, and community leaders attended the inauguration ceremony.
