The upcoming Rajyotsav celebrations in Chhattisgarh will feature a major attraction as the Indian Air Force’s internationally acclaimed Sarang Helicopter Display Team prepares to showcase its precision flying skills in a grand air show at Sendh Lake, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, on November 2 at 11 a.m.

Ahead of the event, members of the Sarang team met Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur and briefed him about the aerial display. Welcoming the team, the Chief Minister described their participation as a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh and said the performance would provide citizens with a close look at the discipline, courage and professionalism that define the Indian Air Force.

The air show will feature five Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv aircraft, performing complex formations, synchronized manoeuvres and close-proximity flying displays. Known for their precision and visual appeal, Sarang performances are regarded among the finest helicopter aerobatic displays in the world.

A highlight of this year’s programme will be the participation of Squadron Leader Ankita and Squadron Leader Akshaya, whose presence is expected to inspire young women across the state to pursue careers in aviation, defence and other challenging fields.

Led by Group Captain Abhijit Kumar, the team will demonstrate advanced flying skills that require extraordinary coordination, concentration and teamwork. According to Air Force officials, only a handful of helicopter display teams worldwide perform such intricate aerial manoeuvres.

The Sarang team flies the indigenously developed Dhruv helicopters, showcasing India’s growing capabilities in aviation technology and defence manufacturing. The helicopters’ colourful peacock-inspired design and dynamic formations have earned the team recognition at national and international events.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the event would not only entertain spectators but also strengthen feelings of patriotism, discipline and national service among young people. He expressed confidence that the display would encourage more youth to consider careers in the armed forces and contribute to nation-building.

Expected to draw thousands of spectators, the air show is likely to be one of the biggest attractions of Rajyotsav 2026 and a memorable highlight of Chhattisgarh’s State Foundation Day celebrations.
