CBI Extradites Mahadev Betting Syndicate Promoter Saurabh Chandrakar from Oman

In a major breakthrough in the Mahadev Online Book investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has secured the extradition of alleged betting syndicate promoter Saurabh Chandrakar from Oman. The move follows coordinated efforts involving Interpol, the Royal Oman Police and Indian investigative agencies.

    Khabar 365 News Network

RAIPUR, Nov. 1: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully extradited alleged Mahadev Online Book promoter Saurabh Chandrakar from the Sultanate of Oman, marking a significant development in the investigation into one of India’s largest alleged illegal online betting syndicates.

According to the CBI, Chandrakar was located and detained by the Royal Oman Police on the basis of a Red Corner Notice issued against him. Following his detention, the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted formal extradition proposals to Omani authorities along with the evidence collected during the investigation.

After approval of the extradition request, a specially deputed CBI team travelled to Muscat and escorted Chandrakar back to India. He is expected to be produced before the CBI Special Court in Raipur following necessary legal procedures and transit formalities.

The investigating agency said Chandrakar is wanted in two CBI cases in which chargesheets have already been filed. He is also an accused in a separate Enforcement Directorate case, where a prosecution complaint has been submitted.

The Mahadev Online Book investigation was taken over by the CBI at the request of the Chhattisgarh government. The agency’s probe found that the betting platform allegedly operated as a large illegal online betting network from outside India. Investigators allege that the syndicate offered betting on cricket, football, card games and other events through a network of franchised panels and branches spread across the country.

According to the investigation, betting proceeds were allegedly routed through mule bank accounts, layered through multiple transactions and transferred abroad through hawala channels. The agency has also alleged that portions of the proceeds were used to provide protection payments that enabled the syndicate to continue operations without interference.

The CBI described the extradition as a significant milestone in India’s efforts to bring back fugitives involved in transnational criminal enterprises and ensure that they face due legal process in the country.

    365 Takeaway

The extradition of Saurabh Chandrakar is the biggest development in the Mahadev Online Book investigation in recent months. With one of the key accused now back in India, investigators are expected to intensify efforts to trace financial trails, examine alleged international links and establish the full scale of the betting network.

  • The Night America Thought the Martians Had Landed

The Night America Thought the Martians Had Landed

On a chilly October evening in 1938, a routine radio broadcast transformed into one of history’s most astonishing media moments. As “breaking news” reports warned of strange objects falling from the sky and terrifying creatures emerging from them, thousands of listeners believed a Martian invasion had begun. What followed was a night of confusion, fear, and fascination that still serves as a powerful lesson in the age of viral misinformation.

Khabar 365 Offbeat Desk | October 30 Special

What would you do if a breaking news bulletin suddenly announced that aliens had landed on Earth?

Switch on social media? Call friends? Check a news website?

In 1938, none of those options existed.

Yet on the evening of October 30, 1938, panic, confusion, and disbelief spread across parts of the United States when thousands of radio listeners became convinced that Earth was under attack from Mars.

The culprit was not a spaceship.

    It was a radio drama.

A young 23-year-old actor and director named Orson Welles had adapted H.G. Wells’ famous science-fiction novel The War of the Worlds for radio. Instead of presenting it as a traditional play, Welles chose a far more daring format. The programme interrupted music broadcasts with increasingly alarming “live news updates” about strange explosions on Mars, a mysterious object crashing in New Jersey, and terrifying creatures emerging from the wreckage.

To listeners tuning in late, it sounded frighteningly real.

The bulletins became more dramatic with every passing minute. Reporters described giant war machines advancing across the countryside. Authorities appeared overwhelmed. The so-called Martians seemed unstoppable.

Some listeners rushed outdoors. Others telephoned police stations, newspapers, and radio networks seeking confirmation. Families gathered around radios in fear, trying to understand whether the unbelievable was actually happening.

Of course, it was all fiction.

But for one extraordinary night, fiction proved powerful enough to compete with reality.

The broadcast instantly became one of the most famous moments in media history. Ironically, historians later argued that reports of nationwide hysteria may themselves have been somewhat exaggerated. Yet the legend only grew stronger over time, turning the programme into a case study in the power of mass communication.

More than eight decades later, the story feels surprisingly modern.

Long before fake news, viral posts, deepfakes and AI-generated content, a simple radio broadcast demonstrated how quickly people can accept dramatic information when it arrives in a believable format. No city was destroyed. No spaceship ever landed. No Martian ever set foot on Earth. Yet the broadcast achieved something remarkable: it invaded the human imagination.

The Martians never came, but for a few unforgettable hours, fear travelled faster than facts.

That is perhaps why the tale continues to fascinate the world today. The technology has changed from crackling radios to smartphones and social media feeds, but the challenge remains exactly the same: separating truth from what merely sounds believable. The greatest alien invasion in history never happened. Its warning, however, may be more relevant today than ever before.

    365 Takeaway

Before the internet, before viral posts and long before artificial intelligence entered everyday life, a radio drama demonstrated the extraordinary power of information. The story of the 1938 “Martian invasion” remains a timeless reminder that the more shocking a claim appears, the more important it is to verify it before believing or sharing it.

  • After Arnab’s Landfall, Focus Shifts to Recovery as Rain Threat Persists

After Arnab’s Landfall, Focus Shifts to Recovery as Rain Threat Persists

A day after Cyclone Arnab made landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast, authorities are assessing damage even as heavy rainfall continues to affect parts of eastern and central India. While the cyclone has weakened, its aftermath continues to disrupt daily life, threaten crops and keep disaster response agencies on alert.

    KHABAR365 NEWS NETWORK

The immediate threat posed by Cyclone Arnab may have reduced after its landfall on October 28, but the storm’s impact continues to ripple across several states.

Heavy rainfall, strong winds and waterlogging have affected parts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and adjoining regions, prompting authorities to maintain a high level of preparedness even as the cyclonic system weakens inland.

Initial assessments from Andhra Pradesh indicate damage to homes, power infrastructure and agricultural fields in some of the worst-affected coastal districts. Strong winds uprooted trees, damaged rooftops and disrupted electricity supply in several areas. Large-scale evacuation drives undertaken ahead of landfall helped prevent a greater tragedy and enabled disaster-response teams to begin relief operations soon after conditions improved.

Reports from coastal districts suggest that thousands of residents spent the night in relief shelters as intense rainfall and storm surges battered vulnerable communities. While authorities succeeded in moving large numbers of people to safer locations before the cyclone struck, the focus has now shifted from evacuation to rehabilitation.

In the aftermath of the storm, restoration work is underway across affected regions. Officials are prioritising the clearing of blocked roads, restoration of power supply and delivery of relief materials to affected villages. Disaster management teams are also assessing damage to public infrastructure and standing crops in low-lying areas.

For Chhattisgarh, the story is now more about rainfall than wind. The remnants of the weather system have brought widespread showers across several districts, increasing moisture levels and replenishing reservoirs. However, agricultural experts have cautioned that prolonged waterlogging could damage standing crops and affect harvesting activities in some regions.

The weather system has also coincided with Karwa Chauth celebrations across India. In several cities and towns, families are keeping a close watch on cloud cover and rainfall ahead of the traditional moon-sighting rituals. Despite unsettled weather conditions, festive preparations and market activities have largely continued unabated.

Meteorologists note that cyclones often continue to influence weather patterns long after landfall. Although Arnab has weakened into a lower-pressure system, it still carries significant moisture inland. As a result, authorities have warned of continued rainfall, localised flooding and disruption in vulnerable areas over the coming days.

The coming 48 hours will be crucial as states assess the full scale of damage and work to restore normalcy. For many communities along the coast, the immediate danger may have passed, but the difficult process of recovery has only just begun.

    365 Takeaway

Cyclone Arnab may have weakened after landfall, but its impact is far from over. The focus has now shifted from surviving the storm to rebuilding lives, restoring infrastructure and protecting agriculture from the effects of persistent rainfall. How quickly affected regions recover will determine the true cost of the cyclone in the days ahead.

Farmer-Scientist Dialogue Promotes Sustainable Agriculture Under Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026

A farmer-scientist interaction programme was organised in Bemetara district under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026, where agricultural experts encouraged farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices, improve soil health and reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers.

    KHABAR365 NEWS NETWORK

In a bid to promote sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – National Institute of Biotic Stress Management (NIBSM), Raipur, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bemetara and the Agriculture Department, organised a farmer awareness programme at Gram Panchayat Janta in Bemetara district under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026.

The programme witnessed active participation from local farmers, public representatives and agricultural experts. Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Pooja Mishra and other local representatives were present on the occasion.

During the interaction, scientists Dr. S.K. Jain and Dr. Mallikarjuna Jeer held discussions with farmers on key issues related to soil health conservation, balanced fertiliser use, organic and natural farming practices and crop residue management.

Experts explained that the primary objective of the campaign is to improve soil health, encourage scientific and need-based fertiliser application, conserve water resources and promote environmentally sustainable agricultural practices. They also highlighted the importance of climate-resilient farming methods to ensure long-term productivity and sustainability.

Scientists advised farmers to rely on soil testing before applying fertilisers and encouraged greater use of organic manure, compost and other biological resources to reduce excessive dependence on chemical inputs. Farmers were also urged to avoid crop residue burning and instead adopt proper residue management practices to enhance soil fertility and increase organic matter content.

The programme provided a platform for farmers to directly engage with agricultural scientists and discuss practical challenges faced in farming. Participants received guidance on resource-conservation techniques and modern sustainable agriculture practices aimed at improving productivity while protecting the environment.

A total of 35 farmers participated in the awareness programme and benefited from the farmer-scientist dialogue.

    365 Takeaway

As concerns over soil degradation and climate change continue to grow, initiatives like Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026 are helping bridge the gap between scientific research and on-ground farming practices. Promoting soil health, efficient resource use and sustainable agriculture could play a key role in strengthening Chhattisgarh’s agricultural future.
