The Bailadila Bulls finally opened their account in the Chhattisgarh Hockey League, defeating Rajdhani Royals 1-0 in a rain-hit contest in Raipur on Wednesday. The crucial win has kept the Bulls in contention for a semi-final berth, while the Royals have been eliminated from the competition.

The match, delayed by nearly an hour due to persistent rain, saw the Bulls make a dream start. Forward Rahul Yadav capitalized on an early opportunity inside the circle and fired a powerful strike into the net, giving his team a lead that proved decisive.

Despite creating several scoring opportunities throughout the contest, the Bulls could not add to their tally. Wet playing conditions made passing and finishing difficult, with players from both sides struggling to maintain momentum on the slippery surface.

The Bulls came close to doubling their advantage when Gopal Paikra diverted the ball into the goal, but the effort was disallowed by the umpire. Penalty corners also failed to produce results, as the challenging weather conditions hampered execution.

The Royals found it difficult to penetrate the Bulls’ half and were unable to convert their opportunities. Their inability to capitalize on penalty corners throughout the tournament emerged as a major factor behind their disappointing campaign.

For his match-winning strike, Rahul Yadav was named Striker of the Match, while Himanshu received the Player of the Match award.

    Knights and Titans Share Points

In the day’s other fixture, Nyayadhani Knights and Mainpat Titans settled for a 1-1 draw in a closely contested battle.

The Knights opened the scoring in the second quarter through Ketan, who netted his sixth goal of the tournament after converting a rebound. The Titans, however, fought back in the fourth quarter, with Mohit Nayak finding the equaliser to rescue a crucial point for his side.

The result means the Titans are still in the race for the semi-finals but will have to wait for qualification. Their upcoming clash against Sanskardhani Strikers now assumes added importance.

Ketan was awarded Striker of the Match, while Mohit Nayak earned the Player of the Match honour.
