Raipur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Chhattisgarh, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across parts of the state later this week.
According to the forecast, weather conditions are expected to change from October 27 onwards, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and squall-like conditions likely in several districts.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall on October 27, while October 28 and 29 are expected to witness extremely heavy rain in parts of the state. The changing weather is being linked to an active weather system over the Bay of Bengal that is likely to influence conditions across central and eastern India.
Residents have been advised to remain alert, particularly in low-lying areas vulnerable to waterlogging. Farmers, commuters and travellers are also being urged to monitor local weather updates and take necessary precautions during the forecast period.
Weather officials expect conditions to gradually improve after October 29, with no major warning currently in place for the following days.
